Plans are to build a ground tunnel from the surface that lead into the centre of the crater. From the tunnel, visitors will walk to a viewing platform inside the crater from where the enormous size of the chamber can be enjoyed.

Thrihnukagigur is located approx. 30 km from the capital of Reykjavik. It sits in a giant lava field within the protected area of Blafjöll Country Park.

Þórunn is a registered nurse and is a director of a daycare center for seniors in Reykjavik.  She is truly a daughter of nature who loves being outdoor riding horses and going off-piste skiing.  Þórunn has lived and worked in Switzerland and speaks German fluently.

María will make you feel welcome with her world famous meat soup. But underneath her warm demeanor is a multifaceted woman: she is an actress, entrepreneur, educator as well as a timid drag king. María is full of surprises and keen observations about the varieties of Icelandic nature and culture.

Mother of Arnar and Jónas.  Thora has been a part-time guide for Inside the volcano since summer 2013. She simply just loves guiding in combination with her busy daily work as a veterinarian. She also trains a rescue dog and is a member of ICE-SAR, the Icelandic rescue squad. Besides rescue training, mountain hikes, skiing/snowboarding, horseback riding, and biking are among favorites.
