Gísli has the looks of a viking, is ruff on the outside but soft on the inside. He can turn a bad day into a fantastic one within a blink of an eye, just by smiling and emanating his tranquil aura. Gísli, as so many of our staff, is a member of the Icelandic Rescue Teams, so you are in good hands with him. On his days off Gísli sings with the local male choir “Bartónar” in downtown Reykjavik along with his fellow guides Sveinn and Tryggvi.

I have been to about 80 countries and this experience is one of the best and memorable yet. Where else can u decent through a volcano into a huge magma chamber? Once inside, you surprisingly see rainbow like colors and and the size of the chamber is surprising.

Truly an unbelievable & emotional experience !! Unlike anything out there. Everything about this tour, from start to finish, was extraordinary. I will never forget my journey down into a place where Mother Nature has allowed us wee-humans to venture in to. Simply put, awesome !!!

Daughter of Víðir. Unnur is the nicest bad ass you will ever meet – you’ll find her doing intensive training for the rescue squad along with her university studies and at the same time volunteering in her community and practicing all sorts of exotic sports. She is truly a young woman who knows what she wants and where she comes from.

While descending into the dormant Thrihnukagigur volcano, my heart was pounding with excitement. And it’s so amazing to be surrounded by different colours and shapes of rocks that were formed about 4500 years ago. The stunning journey is actually not limited to visiting the inside of the volcano, but also outside. We walked on a path through the lava field and crossed between the North America and European tectonic plates when heading to Thrihnukagigur. It’s tranquil and beautiful. Thanks to the professional guides and the entire team for giving me this unique and eye-opening experience!
2nd time I go there, def not the last! <3

Ok so this is one of the coolest outdoor activity to do near Reykjavik and a once in a lifetime experience. Get yourself inside the lava chamber of the volcano and admire the magnificent colors on the chamber walls. Definitely take some waterproof shoes and pants if you go in fall/winter. My 11yo daughter and I didn’t and spent a few hours soaking wet at -4 degrees. Memorable experience 🙂 The guides are super friendly. Alexia our guide was awesome and so kind to lend us some of her own clothes. Mister T’s islander soup is to die for. Thanks … Continue reading
