Markús Torfason

Markús runs the office along with Helga. He is a highly skilled computer scientist and a math teacher. He is working with the Icelandic Rescue Teams and loves all the adventures that come with being out in the wilderness.  He has traveled a lot and did parts of his studies in the States. Recently he spent six months exploring the different scenery in Asia and Australia. He, for example, skied in Japan and dived in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. 

Jónas Alfreð Birkisson

Son of Þóra.  Jónas is outgoing and likable. He is a drama student at the Iceland University of the Arts, aiming at a carrier in theater and films. He has worked with our team for two years. In his spare time, Jónas likes to explore nature both in Iceland and abroad.

Steiney Skúladóttir

A comedian, rapper, and a TV host.  Steiney has a taste for all arts and has a busy career making other people laugh or enjoy rap music.  She works with the local girl band “Reykjavíkurdætur” (daughters of Reykjavik) who play and perform a kind of a satire pop music.  Steiney spends her summer holidays at the volcano, hiking back and forth with our guests, making sure no one is left behind.  

Bergrún Adda

When Bergrún is not guiding at the volcano she’s studying illustration at the Leeds Arts University. Bergrún has a passion for reading and loves to travel. She particularly loves traveling around Iceland. The north is a big favorite but she also has a special love for Þórsmörk.

Snædís Ólafsdóttir

Snædís is the daughter of Ólafur, who is one of our guides. Snædís is a bright young woman with an unquenchable thirst for adventure. When she’s not guiding at the volcano she loves to play sports, especially track and field, which she practices every day of the week! Ambition is her middle name, but that doesn’t mean she won’t make time to ski, climb, ride horses, hang out with friends and win awards for her outstanding ice skating routines. Arndís Einarsdóttir

Daughter of Einar.  Arndís has been a part of the team from 2012  and is one of the tail-guides. She grew up traveling around the country. In fact, she was only three weeks old when she went on her first jeep tour on a glacier. She loves to snowboard and explore new places. In the winter time, she studies natural-science at the commercial college of Iceland. Her favorite part about this job is the exercise and the fun and loving staff.

Viktor Franz Jónsson

Viktor has a passion for snowboarding and surfing. He lived in Sweden for three years to attend a snowboarding school, so you can just imagine how good he is! Recently he traveled around Asia for four months to surf. He did this along with his girlfriend Halla Líf, who also guides for us. Bali and Thailand were among their destinations.  Viktor started working for Inside the Volcano in the summer of 2015, only 20 years old.

Þorbjörg Helga Dýrfjörð

Þorbjörg or “Obba” is an actress and a lawyer who has had a fruitful carrier in the Icelandic film and television industry.   Her bubbly character and big smile make sure that all our guests will enjoy their trip inside the volcano.  If you are lucky enough to be on our tour when Obba is on base camp duty you will be served the nicest soup ever.

Ástbjörg Rut Jónsdóttir

Adda is a country girl and nature lover. Being a farmers daughter and a successful sheep whisperer, her knowledge in the field of agriculture and horticulture knows no limits. Nobody knows how old she is, but rumor has it she knows the way to the fountain of youth, so her age might just as well be close to the age of our volcano. When she’s not crawling into volcanos or dancing at the top of a mountain, she raps in Icelandic Sign Language, directs theatre performances and performs improv.

Hilmir Jensson

Hilmir is an actor and a playwriter who loves to spend his spare time inside the volcano.  He knows all the crazy stories of the locals and can put them into acting on the go. In 2010 he graduated from the University of Arts. Since then he has gained experience in acting both on stage and in films. He has worked for all the major theaters in Iceland and in 2019 a film will be released where plays the head role. His big dream is to become fluent in Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese).  We wish him well.
